At TJ Flag Football, we value effective communication while avoiding unnecessary information overload. To help parents stay informed, we've created this Parent Resource Page with answers to frequently asked questions.
1. Practice & Game Schedule
When will my athlete practice and play games?
Schedules vary by season, with a typical season lasting six weeks plus playoffs.
- Spring Season:
- Practices are set by the coach and held on weeknights between 6 PM – 8 PM.
- Practices typically last one hour.
- Games are played on Saturdays.
- Summer Season:
- Practices and games occur on weeknights between 6 PM – 8 PM.
- Practices last 45-60 minutes (coach’s discretion), immediately followed by a game.
- This setup minimizes weekly commitments to one day (two hours total).
2. Required Equipment
Your registration fee includes an NFL Flag Jersey and flag belt.
- Jerseys must be tucked into shorts.
- Flag belts should be tight with excess wrapped, cut, and/or taped. Flags must stay on the player's hips!
Additional Recommended Gear:
✅ Mouthguards – Optional but highly recommended for safety.
✅ Cleats – Optional but help with traction on potentially slick grass fields.
✅ Shorts without pockets – Helps prevent fingers from getting stuck when pulling flags (or tape pockets closed).
✅ Gloves – Optional but improve grip for catching.
✅ Water bottle – Required! Hydration is essential. A water cooler will be available on game days.
✅ Optional safety gear: Soft-shell helmets, padded sleeves, knee guards, etc., can help prevent minor injuries.
